Government Distributes Nearly P149 Million in Aid to Families Impacted by Kanlaon Volcano Eruption

The eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on December 9 has prompted a significant response from both national and local government units, with a total of PHP148.9 million in aid distributed to affected families, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The aid, which includes essential items such as family food packs, sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and financial support, has been crucial for the affected communities. Western Visayas has received PHP45.72 million, assisting 7,309 families, while Central Visayas has been allocated PHP103.24 million, aiding 2,453 families. The total number of families impacted by the volcanic activity stands at 12,043, affecting 46,259 individuals across 26 barangays in both regions. Currently, 4,429 families, comprising 14,501 individuals, are receiving support in 34 evacuation centers.
