Bureau of Corrections Implements Safety Protocols After Fatal Stabbing at New Bilibid Prison

In response to a deadly stabbing at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has mandated that all prison and penal farm superintendents implement preventive measures to safeguard their facilities. The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Thursday at Gate 1-A, Quadrant 4 of the Maximum Security Camp, led to the death of one inmate and injuries to two others. BuCor has chosen to keep the identities of those involved confidential until their families are notified, emphasizing their dedication to upholding the dignity and respect of the affected families of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). Acting Superintendent Corrections Chief Inspector Roger Boncales provided the report on the incident. As investigations continue, BuCor is committed to ensuring the safety of both PDLs and prison staff across all its facilities.
