Three Weather Patterns to Bring Rain Across Luzon

·

MANILA – According to the weather bureau’s latest update on Friday, three distinct weather systems – the shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon – are set to deliver rainfall across various regions of Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) detailed in their 5 a.m. bulletin that provinces such as Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora will see cloudy conditions with scattered rains and occasional thunderstorms, influenced by the shear line. Similarly, the Ilocos Region along with other parts of the Cordillera and Cagayan Valley can expect partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the shear line. Batanes will be under the influence of the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, leading to cloudy skies and rain. Meanwhile, Palawan is set to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought on by the easterlies. PAGASA’s Aldczar Aurelio mentioned that the northeast monsoon is expected to intensify and impact a significant portion of Northern Luzon over the next two days. He urged residents to prepare for potential flooding or landslides. No low-pressure areas were reported within the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Across Metro Manila and the rest of the country, expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Northern Luzon will face moderate to rough seas due to the moderate to strong northeast winds, while other areas will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate sea conditions. The temperature throughout the day is forecasted to fluctuate between 24.3°C and 30.8°C.
