President Marcos Mourns Loss of Dedicated Public Servant DV Savellano

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his deep sorrow following the death of Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Deogracias Victor ‘DV’ Savellano, describing him as a devoted public servant and a cherished friend. Savellano, who passed away at the age of 65 on January 7, 2025, was remembered for his unwavering commitment to the people he served, particularly in Ilocos Sur where he had served as both a congressman and governor.

Marcos extended his heartfelt condolences to Savellano’s family, emphasizing the lasting impact Savellano had on the lives of many and the development he brought to Ilocos and the entire nation. Savellano’s role extended beyond local governance; he was also an oversight official and a member of the governing board at the National Tobacco Administration.

In his capacity at the Department of Agriculture, Savellano worked relentlessly to bolster the livestock sector and support farmers nationwide. His efforts were acknowledged by the DA, which praised his significant contributions to improving the livestock industry despite numerous challenges. The DA also noted that Savellano’s leadership was crucial in initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, sustainability, and food security in agriculture.

In tribute to Savellano’s legacy, the national flag at the DA’s main building in Quezon City was lowered to half-staff. The DA expressed its deepest sympathies to Savellano’s family, friends, and colleagues, recognizing his tireless advocacy for the welfare of farmers and fisherfolk. President Marcos concluded by wishing Savellano peace, affirming that his dedication would be remembered forever.
