The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has confirmed that Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro’s name will continue to appear on the ballot for the upcoming May 2025 elections. A recent ballot template displayed on the Comelec’s official website lists Teodoro as a candidate for the representative position in Marikina’s first congressional district. Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia explained that Teodoro’s inclusion stems from an ongoing Motion for Reconsideration (MR) filed with the Commission en Banc. Garcia noted that the Commission has previously overturned decisions made by its divisions based on arguments presented in such motions. He emphasized that Teodoro’s name would remain on the ballots until a final and enforceable decision is reached. This comes after the Comelec First Division previously invalidated Teodoro’s candidacy for congressman due to material misrepresentation in his certificate of candidacy filed in October 2024.
