The Philippine National Police (PNP) has meticulously prepared for the Iglesia ni Cristo’s National Rally for Peace, held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Monday, January 13, 2025. PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the comprehensive security measures in place, which include close coordination with INC organizers, effective traffic and crowd management, and strategic deployment of police forces. Marbil reiterated the PNP’s commitment to protecting the participants’ right to peaceful assembly while ensuring public safety and order.

Marbil highlighted the successful management of the Traslacion procession as evidence of the PNP’s ability to handle large gatherings. He assured that the same level of precision and diligence would be applied to the peace rally. By 9 a.m., the crowd at the event was estimated at 1.2 million, with no significant incidents reported, according to National Capital Region Police Office spokesperson Maj. Myrna Diploma.

In addition to securing the main venue, the PNP has implemented a detailed security plan that includes deploying personnel to critical areas such as Liwasang Bonifacio and other regional sites. The PNP, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, will manage traffic to minimize disruptions. Medical teams, quick reaction forces, and monitoring units are ready to respond to any emergencies.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have also committed to supporting the PNP in ensuring public safety during the rally, which is taking place at 13 locations nationwide. The AFP has deployed additional security forces, including Civil Disturbance Management teams at the Quirino Grandstand, with more units on standby. The military emphasized its role in protecting constitutional rights to freedom of speech, expression, and assembly, underscoring these as essential to a thriving democracy. The AFP urged participants to work with security personnel to maintain peace and order, reaffirming their dedication to public safety and respect for individual rights.
