NAIA Expressway Boosts Speed Limit to 80 kph from January 15

·

The NAIA Expressway, a crucial link between the Skyway system and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminals 1, 2, and 3, is set to increase its speed limit from 60 to 80 kilometers per hour starting January 15. This decision, announced by San Miguel Corporation’s chairman and CEO Ramon Ang, aims to enhance the travel experience for motorists while ensuring their safety. Ang emphasized that the adjustment was made after thorough analysis to balance efficiency and safety. Alongside this change, the ongoing modifications at the NAIAx exit plazas are expected to reduce traffic congestion. The new speed limit will also apply to the straight sections of Skyway Stage 3 from January 20, though the 60 kph limit will remain on curved sections of both expressways to prevent accidents due to the challenging design constraints faced during construction. SMC noted that the limited space during the building phase led to sharp curves in some areas, necessitating slower speeds. To enforce these limits, traffic patrollers will continue using radar speed guns to monitor and penalize speed violators.
