Philippine Army Declares Communist Insurgents Unable to Impact 2025 Elections

·

The Philippine Army has announced that the communist insurgents, specifically the New People’s Army (NPA), are no longer in a position to disrupt or sway the upcoming 2025 midterm elections. According to Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala, the current weakened state of the NPA means they lack the power to influence the electoral process. This statement comes after successful joint operations between military and civilian forces that have dismantled 88 of the 89 NPA guerilla fronts across the country, leaving only one significantly weakened front still active. Despite this progress, Dema-ala emphasized that army units will remain vigilant and continue internal security operations to ensure a peaceful and orderly election. He also stated that there will be no reduction in efforts to pursue the remaining leaders of the armed group. With the NPA’s structure falling apart, Dema-ala called on all remaining insurgents and their supporters to surrender, disarm, and participate in efforts for national development.
