MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Monday that isolated rain showers are expected to dominate the weather across the Philippines. According to a 4 a.m. advisory, the northeast monsoon, known locally as amihan, will bring rainfall to regions including Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon. Meanwhile, the easterlies are predicted to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Davao Oriental. These areas may experience moderate to heavy rains, which could lead to flash floods or landslides. PAGASA also noted that the northeast monsoon will result in isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Other parts of the country will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Northern Luzon is expected to have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while other regions will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters. PAGASA reported no low pressure areas that could develop into tropical cyclones.
