Government Allocates PHP198 Million to Support Families Impacted by Mt. Kanlaon’s Activity

In response to the ongoing disturbances caused by Mt. Kanlaon, the national and local governments have disbursed a total of PHP198 million in aid to affected families, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday. The funds are distributed with PHP127.3 million allocated to Central Visayas and PHP70.7 million to Western Visayas. This financial support has reached 10,053 families across the two regions, specifically aiding 7,552 families in Western Visayas and 2,501 in Central Visayas. The assistance comprises essential items such as family food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, financial aid, as well as filtration and generator sets. The unrest has impacted 12,286 families across 27 villages in these regions. Currently, 3,107 families are taking refuge in 23 evacuation centers, while an additional 2,662 families are receiving support outside these facilities.
