In a significant move to bolster their fight against misinformation, the Philippines and the United Kingdom have agreed to deepen their collaboration on strategic communications. This decision came after a meeting between Cesar Chavez, the Acting Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), and Laure Beaufils, the UK Ambassador to the Philippines, held at Chavez’s office.
The PCO announced the meeting on their official Facebook page, highlighting the commitment to enhance cooperation in strategic communications and the battle against misinformation. During the discussion, Chavez shared insights into the Philippines’ initiatives aimed at improving public communication and expressed keen interest in adopting the UK’s Grid Framework, known for its effectiveness in managing public information.
Additionally, Chavez acknowledged the UK’s support in the West Philippine Sea, particularly through the WPS Campaign Branding initiative. This initiative focuses on increasing public awareness about maritime security and the protection of resources in the region.
The diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the UK, established on July 4, 1946, continue to grow stronger through such collaborative efforts.
