President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has made a strategic appointment by naming lawyer Allan Vincent Lorenzo as the Deputy Director General of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Lorenzo, who served on Marcos’s legal team during the 2022 presidential elections, brings a wealth of experience to the role. The announcement was made via the Presidential Communications Office’s official Facebook page, highlighting Lorenzo’s new position within the PIA, which operates under the PCO and serves as the government’s public relations arm for targeted communication efforts. Lorenzo, a senior partner at the Espino Valencia Pe Lim Nery Law Office, has a diverse legal background that includes expertise in land and marine transportation, telecommunications, local government, labor, and corporate law.
In addition to Lorenzo’s appointment, President Marcos has also reappointed several ambassadors and made numerous other appointments across various government sectors. Ambassadors Marie Charlotte Tang and Maria Elena Algabre have been reappointed to their roles, with Tang continuing her duties in Kenya and expanding her responsibilities to include Ethiopia, while Algabre will serve in Hungary with additional jurisdiction over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia. The Department of Foreign Affairs saw the appointment of several individuals to various diplomatic positions, including Alan Deniega, Mary Anne Padua, and Ezzedin Tago as Ad Interim Chief of Mission, Class I, among others.
Further appointments include Joel Joseph Marciano Jr., who continues as the ad interim director general of the Philippine Space Agency, and a range of other positions filled by individuals such as Joseph Omar Castillo, Mary Ann Seriosa, Cecilia Dy, and Kathleen Daan in various boards and councils. The Department of Education and the Department of National Defense also saw new directors appointed, including Hana Kamille Escueta, Marie Clarisse Ligunas-Roque, Johvie Valenton-Radoc, Sidney Zosa Jr., Dick Diolola, and Laarni Paz. Elizer Salilig was appointed Director V at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, with Michael Oliver de Guzman and Gideon Dy taking up Director III positions at the Department of Education.
