Senator Advocates for Bible-Based Governance on National Bible Day

On the occasion of the 8th National Bible Day, celebrated on January 27, 2025, Senator Joel Villanueva called on Filipinos to strengthen their faith and integrate biblical teachings into the nation’s legal and policy frameworks. In a video message, Villanueva described the day as a significant blessing, highlighting the palpable sense of God’s love and presence among Filipinos. He referenced Republic Act 11163, which officially recognizes National Bible Day, underscoring its importance. Villanueva pointed out that the Philippine Constitution’s Preamble invokes the aid of Almighty God, specifically the God of the Bible, and stressed that this should be the foundation of the country’s governance. He emphasized the responsibility of Christians to ensure that the Bible guides the nation’s laws. Furthermore, Villanueva encouraged Filipinos to apply biblical teachings in their homes, schools, workplaces, and government offices. Observed annually on the last Monday of January, he expressed hope that National Bible Day would foster a deeper commitment to biblical principles in all facets of life.
