DPWH Enhances Davao City and Negros Road Networks with Completed Maintenance Projects

·

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed essential maintenance projects on key roadways in Davao City and Negros, significantly improving connectivity and safety for local residents and travelers. In Davao City, the DPWH finalized preventive maintenance on a 5.76-kilometer stretch of the Davao City Diversion Road, which now boasts enhanced asphalt overlaying to ensure prolonged durability and resilience. This initiative, costing PHP96.5 million and funded through the 2024 DPWH Infrastructure Program, aims to maintain optimal road conditions and prevent the need for extensive future repairs, thereby supporting the economic growth of surrounding areas. The diversion road plays a crucial role in alleviating traffic congestion in Davao’s major districts and improving access for commuters, particularly in Buhangin, Maa, Matina, and Toril. Meanwhile, in Negros, the DPWH completed a PHP110.98-million project to install slope protection netting along a 140-meter section of the Vallehermoso-La Castellana Road. This environmentally friendly measure, featuring an active wire mesh system, effectively mitigates the risk of landslides and rockfalls, ensuring safer travel and uninterrupted access to essential facilities. The project addresses previous issues caused by debris during heavy rains and seismic events, enhancing the reliability of this vital route that connects Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental and facilitates the transportation of agricultural goods.
