MANILA – In a move to enhance road safety education, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has teamed up with the Legacy College of Compostela (LCC) in Davao de Oro. This collaboration, part of the SAFE schools initiative, offers free driving lessons and permits to students and faculty members of the college. LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced the partnership, highlighting its goal to broaden the reach of road safety education and instill the values of responsible driving among young people. Mendoza praised the initiative as a significant step in promoting road safety and delivering crucial LTO services directly to educational institutions. The agreement, formalized by LCC head Joji Bernadette Ancog Casidsid and LTO-Davao Region Director Ernesto Raphael Robillo, includes provisions for free theoretical driving courses, student permit issuance, and renewals of driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registrations. Additionally, LCC’s IT department will create a digital system to manage and enhance the program’s effectiveness. Mendoza emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision for a ‘new Philippines,’ where government services are more accessible to the public.
