Three Weather Systems Set to Drench Philippines with Rain

·

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that three distinct weather systems will bring widespread rain across the Philippines on Monday. The shear line is expected to cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Aurora. Similarly, Caraga will experience the same weather conditions due to the influence of easterlies. These easterlies will also bring rain to Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the remaining parts of Central Luzon and Calabarzon. PAGASA has warned that these areas could see moderate to heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash floods or landslides. Additionally, the northeast monsoon is set to bring isolated light rains to other parts of Luzon, while the easterlies will cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in other parts of Mindanao, particularly in the afternoon or evening. The risk of flash floods or landslides is heightened during severe thunderstorms, according to the PAGASA advisory issued at 4 a.m. Furthermore, strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are expected in Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are forecasted for the rest of Luzon and Visayas, while Mindanao will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
