The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has initiated both criminal and administrative proceedings against a motorcycle rider who collided with a traffic enforcer while attempting to evade capture on Marcos Highway in Barangay Inarawan, Antipolo City, on a recent Saturday. LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced on Wednesday that the rider, identified as Roger Ymas, faces charges under Republic Act No. 4136 for resisting and disobeying an authority figure. Additionally, Ymas is charged under Section 11 of RA 9165 after authorities found plastic sachets on him that tested positive for shabu. Mendoza emphasized his commitment to the case, stating, ‘The rider’s actions were clearly disrespectful, and I will personally ensure he is taught a lesson.’ According to a report from LTO-Calabarzon Regional Director Elmer Decena, the incident unfolded in front of St. Anthony Parish Church when Ymas was stopped for not wearing a helmet. Instead of complying, Ymas attempted a hasty U-turn, resulting in the collision with the enforcer and his subsequent crash. Ymas is currently held at the Antipolo Police Station.
