Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo is set to embark on a diplomatic mission to Germany and the United Kingdom from February 14 to 19, as announced by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The purpose of his visit is to engage in discussions about regional developments and to enhance bilateral relationships with these European nations. This trip is particularly timely, coming after the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Germany and in anticipation of the 80th anniversary with the UK next year. During his visit, Manalo aims to reinforce the Philippines’ dedication to upholding a rules-based international system and the rule of law. In Germany, he will attend the 61st Munich Security Conference from February 14 to 16, where he will speak at a roundtable on maritime tensions in the Indo-Pacific region. He is also scheduled to meet with key figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas. Following his time in Munich, Manalo will travel to London for further bilateral discussions with UK officials. Additionally, he will connect with the corporate community at Asia House and participate in a dialogue at Chatham House, both renowned think tanks facilitating high-level international discussions.
