·

MANILA – The head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, announced on Thursday that criminal charges have been filed against ten police officers accused of unlawfully entering a residence in Taguig City on February 9 without a search warrant. Aberin detailed that the officers face charges including robbery, grave coercion, physical injury, obstruction of justice, malicious mischief, and violations of Republic Act 7610, which protects children from abuse, exploitation, and discrimination. These charges were lodged with the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office. Aberin explained that the specific charges against each officer were determined by their actions and level of involvement in the unauthorized operation. The Department of Justice will review these complaints to assess if there is sufficient evidence for a conviction. Aberin emphasized that the cases presented are robust, built on solid evidence gathered during the investigation, aimed at ensuring justice for the victims. Additionally, the implicated officers have been removed from their duties and are subject to an administrative investigation to ascertain their accountability, while adhering to due process. Aberin stated that any violation of Philippine National Police rules could result in dismissal, demotion, or suspension, depending on the severity of the officers’ involvement. He stressed that all parties involved would be given the opportunity to defend themselves, in line with principles of due process, equity, and justice.
