·

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully finished a crucial flood mitigation project along the Peñaranda River in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija. This PHP94.57 million initiative, as announced by DPWH 3 (Central Luzon) Director Roseller Tolentino, features a comprehensive flood control system designed to significantly decrease the risk of flooding in the region. The project encompasses a 312.40-meter double-berm system, a 10-meter-wide dike, and reinforced concrete slope protection, all aimed at protecting the local community and supporting agricultural stability. Before the project’s completion, residents of Barangay Pambuan suffered from frequent flooding that disrupted daily life, damaged crops, and threatened livelihoods, particularly during heavy rainfall and typhoons. The project, implemented by the DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office, was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
