Philippine Navy’s BRP Ramon Alcaraz Participates in International Fleet Review at Komodo Exercise

The Philippine Navy’s offshore patrol vessel, BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16), joined the International Fleet Review (IFR) during the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise ‘Komodo’ (MNEK) in Bali, Indonesia. The opening ceremony, held at the Port of Benoa on February 16, 2025, saw the participation of 31 navies, emphasizing the significance of maritime collaboration for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Following the ceremony, BRP Ramon Alcaraz showcased the Philippines’ naval capabilities and commitment to regional security and interoperability. The vessel’s participation in the IFR highlighted the importance of naval diplomacy and cooperation with allied nations.

The Philippine Navy delegation, led by Rear Admiral Joe Anthony Orbe, included Colonel Emerson Delos Santos and Captain Malone Agudelo. The delegation attended a welcome dinner at the residence of Bali’s Governor, I Wayan Koster, which facilitated high-level discussions and strengthened international maritime security cooperation.

In addition to the naval exercises, MNEK featured a Medical Civic Action Program aboard the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991, offering health services, dental checks, and minor surgeries to the local community. The exercise also included environmental initiatives such as mangrove planting, turtle hatchling releases, and beach cleanups, aimed at promoting conservation and coastal protection.

The 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise ‘Komodo’ is set to conclude on February 22, 2025.
