The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported a significant haul of narcotics valued at PHP124 million during operations conducted from January 1 to February 15. Acting chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin detailed the seizure, which included 15.26 kg of shabu valued at PHP103.79 million, 146.77 kg of marijuana leaves worth PHP17.61 million, and smaller amounts of cocaine, kush, and ecstasy totaling over PHP2 million. Aberin emphasized the NCRPO’s commitment to a vigorous yet procedure-driven approach to combat illegal drugs, aiming to maintain peace and security in Metro Manila.

In the same timeframe, the NCRPO also apprehended 1,867 drug suspects, who are set to be charged under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The current administration’s strategy focuses on a non-violent anti-drug campaign, a stark contrast to the previous government’s lethal approach that resulted in over 6,000 deaths.

Aberin urged all NCRPO units to intensify their efforts while strictly adhering to police operational procedures. The NCRPO’s jurisdiction spans five districts: Manila Police District, Quezon City Police District, Northern Police District, Southern Police District, and Eastern Police District.

Beyond drug enforcement, the NCRPO arrested 1,996 wanted individuals during the period, with the Southern Police District leading with 490 arrests. These arrests were facilitated through enhanced manhunt operations and cyber patrolling by dedicated tracker teams.

Additionally, 285 individuals were arrested for breaching the election gun ban since January 12, with 293 firearms confiscated at checkpoints across Metro Manila. Despite the increased activity during the election period, no election-related incidents were reported, highlighting the effectiveness of the NCRPO’s preventive and security measures.
