In a significant breakthrough, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has apprehended Kapoy, the chief suspect in the tragic murder of a village chairman and his wife in Cebu. The arrest took place on Zuelex Street in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, around 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, as announced by CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III on Wednesday. Kapoy, a resident of Barangay Tubod, Asturias, Cebu, was listed as the No. 7 most wanted individual in Central Visayas due to his alleged involvement in the deaths of Mario Delfin Tundag, the chairman of Barangay Manguiao, and his wife, Edna. The couple was fatally shot on March 14, 2023, along the national highway in Poblacion Asturias, an incident that captured widespread public and media attention. Following the crime, Judge Ruben Fermin Altubar of Toledo City Regional Trial Court Branch 29 issued an arrest warrant for Kapoy on September 20, 2023, charging him with double murder. The Special Investigation Task Group – SITG TUNDAG, led by the CIDG Cebu Field Unit, conducted a thorough investigation that led to Kapoy’s identification, the filing of criminal charges, and ultimately, his arrest.
