The head of Israel’s aid agency, MASHAV, Ambassador Eynat Shlein, has arrived in the Philippines to bolster development cooperation between the two nations. During her three-day visit, Shlein engaged with various stakeholders from both the private and public sectors. On Monday, she met with representatives from the GMA Kapuso Foundation, a potential partner for MASHAV in humanitarian and disaster relief efforts. Additionally, the delegation visited Tarlac Agricultural University, where Israel is currently enhancing local capabilities through technology transfer and capacity building. Israel Ambassador Ilan Fluss emphasized the goal of modestly expanding their development cooperation. He highlighted Israel’s willingness to share its experiences despite being a small and distant country. Discussions are also underway with the Philippine Department of Agriculture to organize a visit to Israel, focusing on sharing advanced dairy farming techniques. Fluss pointed out the significant difference in milk production between Israeli and Philippine cows, suggesting that local production could reduce the Philippines’ 99% milk import dependency. Shlein also attended a ceremony in Taguig City to inaugurate a new learning center funded by MASHAV.
