Alyansa Candidates Rally Negrenses with Promises of Progress and People-Centric Policies

In a vibrant display of unity and purpose, the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidates gathered at the Victorias City Coliseum in Negros Occidental, captivating an audience of approximately 8,000 with their commitment to the Filipino people. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. spearheaded the rally, introducing the 12 candidates who are united in their mission to advance the welfare and interests of the nation.

President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of selecting leaders who are dedicated to their duties, possess strong convictions, and are prepared to serve and defend the Philippines globally. He urged the crowd to unite in this crucial decision.

Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino shared his vision for Negros Occidental, the leading sugar-producing province, proposing the creation of a Sugar Competitiveness Enhancement Fund. This fund would be supported by tariffs from sugar imports, benefiting local producers, workers, and government units in the region. Additionally, Tolentino aims to eliminate the 12 percent value-added tax on electricity to reduce power costs.

Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr., known for his legislative achievements like the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act and the Expanded Centenarian Act, pledged to continue supporting the Marcos administration’s agenda through further legislation.

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, aspiring to return to the Senate, focused on his advocacy for free public housing and sustainable livelihoods for those in need, emphasizing the importance of passing and implementing these initiatives.

Senator Lito Lapid, who overcame personal challenges due to poverty, committed to advocating for educational opportunities for underprivileged students, promising to prioritize this if re-elected.

Senator Imee Marcos, the President’s sister, vowed to fight for affordable food, decent employment, and assistance for families, aiming to lower the prices of essential goods.

Former Senate President Vicente Sotto III proposed a plan to support farmers and fisherfolk by having the government purchase 50 percent of their output at their set prices.

Other candidates, including Senator Pia Cayetano, former local government secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., former senator Panfilo Lacson, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar, and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, also shared their visions and commitments to the public.

The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate comprises members from the President’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and allied parties such as Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party, and National Unity Party, all dedicated to a shared goal of uplifting the Filipino people.
