In a concerning development, a Philippine Air Force (PAF) FA 50 jet went missing during a mission early Tuesday morning, according to officials.
Speaking at a briefing held at Camp Aguinaldo, PAF Spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo confirmed that a comprehensive search operation is underway to locate the missing aircraft.
As part of a tactical operation based in Mactan, Cebu, the missing plane was crewed by two air force pilots when it vanished. Communication with the aircraft was lost just moments before it was scheduled to reach its target area.
Other planes involved in the mission made several unsuccessful attempts to restore contact with the missing jet until they returned to their base in Cebu, Castillo reported.
The PAF has committed extensive resources in the hope of finding the aircraft and its crew. Castillo also appealed to the public for prayers and support during this critical search endeavor.
