In a decisive move by Malacañang aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, all presidential appointees serving under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) have been directed to submit their courtesy resignations. This was confirmed by Jay Ruiz, the newly appointed Presidential Communications Secretary, this Saturday.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the official memorandum on February 25, urging personnel whose appointments are not permanent, including those serving in an acting capacity or holding over positions within government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs), to submit unconditional courtesy resignations. This procedure should grant Secretary Ruiz greater flexibility and independence in effectively managing and strategically reorganizing the office.
The memorandum emphasized that affected appointees must continue their regular responsibilities pending final actions regarding their resignations. Secretary Ruiz is entrusted with informing all concerned personnel and closely supervising compliance with the directive.
Currently, the exact number of affected appointees and timelines regarding the implementation of resignations have not been disclosed. Nevertheless, the initiative clearly intends to support operational streamlining and align efforts under the fresh leadership and direction of Secretary Ruiz.
