The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has announced plans to hold a rally in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s position against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. This announcement was made during a broadcast on the INC’s network, Net25, by the host of the program ‘Sa Ganang Mamamayan,’ Gen Subardiaga.
Subardiaga emphasized that the INC prioritizes peace and stability, expressing the church’s opposition to any form of conflict. He stated that the INC has already begun organizing large gatherings across its locales to demonstrate their support for President Marcos Jr.’s view that an impeachment of the Vice President is unnecessary and would not benefit the Filipino people.
President Marcos Jr. has publicly stated his opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Duterte, arguing that such actions would not serve the interests of the nation. Despite his stance, two impeachment complaints have been lodged against Duterte this week at the House of Representatives.
The first complaint, filed on Monday, accuses Duterte of constitutional violations, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other serious offenses. The second, filed by the Makabayan bloc on Wednesday, specifically cites betrayal of public trust as the reason for seeking her impeachment.
