NAIA Bolsters Security with 100 Additional Screening Officers for Holiday Rush

·

As the holiday season approaches, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is set to enhance its security measures. The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has announced the deployment of an additional 100 screening officers to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic.

Currently, the Philippines has 2,178 screening officers nationwide, with 1,032 dedicated to NAIA, the country’s primary airport. OTS Administrator Crizaldo Nieves stated that these new recruits will undergo essential aviation security training to prepare them for immediate deployment during the busy holiday period.

The additional officers will reinforce security checkpoints across all four terminals of NAIA. OTS spokesperson Kim Marquez emphasized that, in addition to increasing manpower, civil aviation auditors will be on duty around the clock to ensure that security protocols are effectively implemented at the airport.

Furthermore, the OTS Transport Security Operations Center will operate 24/7 to monitor and respond to any security incidents promptly. Marquez also noted that the OTS is committed to maintaining security screening equipment through regular preventive maintenance to avoid any disruptions during the holiday rush.
