MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has praised the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) for its significant efforts in promoting the rights and well-being of the urban poor. In his address during the Urban Poor Solidarity Week, the President acknowledged the leadership of PCUP’s CEO Meynard Sabili in fostering hope, fairness, and justice across the country.
Marcos highlighted the PCUP’s essential role in advocating for the marginalized by facilitating important discussions and promoting sustainable growth. He noted that the commission’s effective coordination and oversight of various policies and programs are crucial in building a foundation of hope, equity, and justice.
This year’s Urban Poor Solidarity Week is themed ‘One Big Happy Family: Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Tahanan para sa Maralitang Kababayan,’ emphasizing the importance of unity in creating a society where everyone feels recognized, appreciated, and supported.
The President stressed the need for collective action to build a future marked by compassion and inclusivity, ensuring continued progress for the nation and beyond. He called for a united effort to create a society where every individual can thrive.
Meynard Sabili expressed gratitude for the President’s support and committed to enhancing cooperation with stakeholders to improve the lives of the urban poor. He vowed to intensify efforts in line with President Marcos Jr.’s vision to uplift the urban poor community.
