In response to the looming threat of Typhoon Marce, also known internationally as Yinxing, a total of 123 families from La Union and Pangasinan were evacuated on Thursday night. In La Union’s Bangar town, 105 families, totaling 257 individuals, were moved from Barangay Mindor to the town’s covered court. The La Union Provincial Information Office explained that the evacuation was necessary due to the area’s vulnerability as a small island, which could complicate rescue efforts if the river overflows. Meanwhile, in San Fabian, Pangasinan, 18 families were also evacuated and are being supported by the local government until conditions improve, according to Vincent Chiu from the Pangasinan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. Both provinces remain on high alert, with rescue teams and equipment ready for deployment. The Department of Social Welfare and Development has stockpiled 28,787 family food packs and 14,944 non-food items to aid those affected in the Ilocos Region. As of November 7, La Union holds 2,818 family food packs and 11,053 non-food items, while Pangasinan has 3,864 family food packs and 806 non-food items. The northern and central parts of these provinces are currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
