Antique Province Illuminates 300 Villages with P300-M Solar Streetlight Initiative

·

In a significant move towards sustainable development, the provincial government of Antique has launched a PHP300 million solar streetlight project aimed at enhancing the quality of life in 300 villages. Governor Rhodora Cadiao, who spearheaded the initiative, emphasized the project’s role in promoting renewable energy within the province. On November 11, 2024, Cadiao briefed village leaders on the project, following the provincial board’s approval of the necessary funds. The initiative kicked off with an orientation session on October 22 for 179 village chiefs, followed by another session on November 11 for 151 more leaders. Each participating village is set to receive PHP1 million to procure the required materials through the government procurement system. Governor Cadiao expressed hopes that the provincial board would consider additional funding to extend the project to the remaining 290 villages, thereby improving safety for residents and commuters across the province.
