CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – In an effort to support consumers during the festive season, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Northern Mindanao has unveiled a price guide for holiday essentials. The guide, released on Friday, is designed to help families plan their holiday meals more effectively by providing detailed information on the prices of popular Noche Buena products for 2024. According to the DTI, the guide will enable consumers to make smarter purchasing decisions and better manage their holiday budgets. It lists a range of holiday favorites including hams, cheese, mayonnaise, pasta, and various condiments, specifying their brands, weights, and price ranges. The guide also highlights items that are cheaper than last year and those that have maintained their prices. To ensure compliance with the listed prices, the Cagayan de Oro City Price Coordinating Council will carry out regular market checks. Additionally, the Department of Agriculture Region-10 has published its own price monitoring list for agricultural products, with imported rice currently priced between PHP51 and PHP54 per kilogram. Almer Masillones, Assistant Director of DTI-10, emphasized the importance of businesses respecting consumer rights during this period, stating that while consumers should be aware of their rights, businesses must also commit to upholding them.
