The provincial government of Northern Samar has turned its capitol grounds into a dazzling Christmas attraction, attracting throngs of visitors during the holiday season. Named Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024, this festive spectacle in Catarman, the capital town, has been lighting up the nights with enchanting Christmas displays, according to Jhon Allen Berbon, head of the provincial economic development and investment promotions office.
Berbon highlighted the collaborative spirit between the government and private sector, which has fostered a sense of unity and charity, creating a joyful experience for the residents of Northern Samar. The event, which began on October 25, faced interruptions due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Pepito but is set to continue until January 6, 2025.
Highlights of Karibhungan sa Pasko include a towering Christmas tree, a mesmerizing light tunnel, and creatively themed booths representing 14 top global destinations. The provincial government expressed gratitude to the private entities and individuals who contributed to bringing popular characters and destinations like Hong Kong’s Disneyland, the USA, Hollywood, Europe, Japan, and Antarctica to life.
The initiative, Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024, was launched to spread holiday cheer and allow both locals and tourists to immerse themselves in the global magic of Christmas. Berbon emphasized that the event showcases the community’s volunteerism, unity, and public service spirit, with various government and non-government organizations contributing their creativity and effort to create a festive environment.
