Aurora Province Declares State of Calamity Following Triple Typhoon Hit

In the wake of three devastating typhoons, the province of Aurora has been officially declared under a state of calamity. The decision was announced by Governor Reynante Tolentino, following a unanimous vote by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan during their regular session at the provincial capitol in Baler, Aurora. The typhoons, named Nika (Toraji), Ofel (Usagi), and Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi), wreaked havoc across the region, prompting the urgent declaration. According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s assessment, the total damage amounted to PHP355.47 million in infrastructure, PHP51.89 million in agriculture, and PHP2.77 million affecting tourism, micro, small and medium enterprises, and other business establishments. Governor Tolentino emphasized that this declaration will expedite recovery and rehabilitation efforts throughout the province.
