In a significant move to support agricultural recovery, over 681 farmers from 16 villages in Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte, were provided with more than PHP7 million in government aid on November 22, 2024. The initiative, led by Las Nieves Mayor Karen Rosales and Agusan del Norte Governor Maria Angelica Amante, aimed to help farmers recover from earlier calamities.

The Department of Agriculture, working closely with local governments, distributed essential agricultural inputs including fertilizers and a variety of seeds such as hybrid rice, corn, and vegetables. This support is crucial for farmers looking to restore their lands after devastating floods.

Farmer Simplicio Nacorda, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his appreciation for the aid, noting its importance in helping them recover from flood damage. Similarly, Margie Sulit, another farmer, highlighted how the vegetable seeds and fertilizers would significantly enhance their farm’s productivity, replacing crops lost to previous disasters.

Mayor Rosales extended gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Department of Agriculture for their support, emphasizing the critical role of this aid in the recovery efforts of Las Nieves’ farming community.
