In a move to bolster food security, the province of Camiguin has initiated the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), aimed at providing affordable rice to families with limited income. The program’s rollout began on Tuesday in Mambajao town, where the provincial government started registering eligible households.
Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo emphasized that the AKAP initiative is designed to support families earning at or below the minimum wage, ensuring they have access to affordable staple foods. ‘We are on the verge of making affordable rice available to every household,’ Governor Romualdo stated optimistically.
The registration process, which kicked off in Mambajao, is scheduled to expand to other municipalities across Camiguin in the upcoming weeks. Through this program, beneficiaries will be able to buy rice at discounted rates from designated stores, significantly easing the economic strain of purchasing essential food items.
