In a significant move to enhance agricultural productivity, the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has distributed farm machinery and equipment valued at PHP59.6 million to 20 farmers’ associations in Agusan del Norte. The distribution took place on November 29, 2024, in Barangay Sto. Niño, Butuan City, as part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) under the Rice Tariffication Law.

Domingo Miranda, assistant chief from PhilMech’s central office, emphasized that the initiative aims to elevate the productivity, profitability, and competitiveness of rice farmers through the provision of modern equipment. Among the recipients, the Tagbaluca Irrigators Association from Cabadbaran City was equipped with a comprehensive package including a four-wheel drive tractor, a floating tiller, a rice combine harvester, and a walk-behind transplanter.

The event was also attended by Edgar Testa, PhilMech Mindanao cluster head, and Jingle Tinambacan, the focal person for PhilMech in the Caraga Region.
