Ilocos Norte Provides Fuel Subsidy and Housing Aid to Drivers and Residents

·

In a significant move to support its residents, the Ilocos Norte provincial government has distributed fuel subsidies to 297 public transport drivers and operators in Pagudpud. This initiative, aimed at alleviating the burden of rising oil prices, provided each beneficiary with PHP3,000, along with a reflectorized vest and a sack of rice. Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc, present at the distribution, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the livelihoods of its citizens, mentioning additional programs in agriculture and livestock that could further assist them.

The distribution of fuel aid extended beyond Pagudpud, reaching drivers and operators in the towns of Badoc, Pinili, Burgos, Bangui, and Pasuquin. The provincial government plans to continue this effort next week to ensure all targeted beneficiaries receive their aid.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance, especially as the Christmas season nears. Ramon Valenzuela from Pagudpud and Joseph Gaspar from Barangay Tanap, Burgos, highlighted the significance of the aid during these challenging times, with Gaspar noting the impact of recent typhoons on his ability to work.

In addition to the fuel subsidy, the provincial government is also distributing PHP5,000 in housing assistance to 2,072 individuals whose homes were destroyed by tropical cyclone Marce, primarily in Pagudpud. This dual effort underscores the government’s dedication to supporting both the transport sector and residents affected by natural disasters.
