Angeles City Unveils Modern Pampanga Public Market to Boost Commerce

Angeles City, Pampanga, celebrated the grand opening of the newly constructed Pampanga Public Market on Friday, November 29, 2024. The PHP400 million project, which spans 30,685 square meters, was inaugurated by Senator Imee Marcos, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., and Representative Carmelo Lazatin II of Pampanga’s 1st District. The market replaces the previous structure that was ravaged by fire in 2020.

Mayor Lazatin emphasized the market’s role beyond mere infrastructure, stating, “This new Pampanga Public Market is not just a building. It’s a symbol of our dedication to uplifting our local vendors and ensuring that Angeles City remains a hub of trade and commerce.” The facility is designed to enhance the city’s status as a commercial center, featuring a 2,682-square-meter dry goods section on the ground floor, complete with a food court.

The upper levels of the market include steel parking facilities with 251 slots and an elevator, improving accessibility for both vendors and customers. Additionally, a separate wing with 50 stalls is dedicated to eateries, catering to the culinary needs of the community.

The project, completed in 588 days, was praised by local vendors like Orly, who highlighted the benefits of the new facility. “It’s a big help to us vendors to have a beautiful facility such as this, where the wet and dry sections of our goods are separate,” he said.

Mayor Lazatin also acknowledged Senator Marcos’s support, noting her role in facilitating PHP20 million for the repair of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center, underscoring her commitment to the city’s development.
