In the wake of recent typhoons, the provincial government of Ilocos Norte has disbursed PHP1.3 million in cash assistance to 268 tourism establishments across the towns of Bangui, Pasuquin, Burgos, and Pagudpud. These businesses, which include accommodations, restaurants, souvenir shops, and other small to medium enterprises, have been struggling to recover from the impacts of severe weather events. Xavier Ruiz, the officer-in-charge at the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office, announced that an additional 43 establishments will soon receive aid once their typhoon damage is verified. The financial support is intended to aid these businesses in their recovery and reconstruction efforts, bolstering the local tourism industry and its economic contributions. In Pagudpud, known for its stunning white sand beaches and scenic views, typhoon-affected resort and restaurant owners received PHP5,000 each. Other beneficiaries will also receive construction materials to aid in their recovery. The aftermath of Typhoon Marce, which struck Northern Luzon from November 4-8, 2024, has left a significant mark on the region, with 103 structures, including 20 resorts, homestays, and stores in Saud alone, reported damaged by village chief Frila Fae Viloria.
