In a proactive move to ensure safety during the festive season, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) has established 105 police assistance desks across the province. This initiative, which coincides with the start of Simbang Gabi on December 16, 2024, aims to enhance security during the holiday period. The desks are strategically placed with 31 in places of worship, 41 along major thoroughfares, 13 near transport hubs, and 20 in commercial zones, manned by a total of 865 personnel.
Lt. Trisha Mae Guzman, the information officer for Pangasinan PPO, emphasized the importance of these desks in a recent phone interview. She noted that the deployment is part of the broader Ligtas Kapaskuhan (Safe Christmas) campaign, which also includes 1,087 personnel stationed at checkpoints and firecracker zones. Guzman urged residents to comply with local laws and ordinances to avoid any incidents during the holidays.
Additionally, she advised the public to take precautionary measures such as locking their homes and unplugging appliances before leaving to prevent theft and fire hazards. This comprehensive approach by the Pangasinan police underscores their commitment to maintaining peace and safety throughout the holiday season.
