Baguio City Police Director Col. Ruel Tagel announced on January 7, 2025, that the expansion of business operations into the city’s villages is significantly reducing traffic congestion in the central business district (CBD). Tagel highlighted that this shift allows residents to meet their needs without traveling to the CBD, easing the strain on the city’s narrow roads, particularly during peak times like weekends and tourist seasons. To further manage traffic, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) is developing an online application that will provide real-time traffic updates, helping residents make informed decisions about their travel plans based on current traffic conditions and parking availability. Local resident Cicille Tabilog from Irisan expressed gratitude for the new satellite market, grocery chains, and pharmacies in her area, noting that she no longer needs to visit the CBD for everyday shopping due to competitive prices and product quality. Tabilog mentioned that trips to the town center are now reserved for specialized items not available locally.
