Iloilo City Enhances Police Force with New Gear and Vehicles

·

Iloilo City has taken a significant step to strengthen its police force by providing the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with new equipment. On January 8, 2025, the city government transferred 80 assault rifles, 250 radio batteries, and three patrol vehicles to the ICPO, significantly boosting its operational capabilities. ICPO director Col. Kim Legada highlighted the importance of these additions, especially as they prepare for the upcoming Dinagyang Festival, set to take place from January 24 to 26. The new equipment will enhance communication and mobility, particularly for Police Stations 9 and 10. Legada also mentioned that the ICPO had requested 16 patrol cars for its four police stations, with the remaining 13 expected to arrive in April. The assault rifles will be used by officers on patrol duty. Due to the absence of insurgency in the city, it receives less support from national headquarters, making the local government’s assistance vital. Mayor Jerry Treñas was commended for his responsiveness to the police’s needs.
