In preparation for the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s national peace rally, the Cagayan de Oro city government has decided to suspend classes and government office work in certain areas on Monday. The rally, set to attract around 30,000 attendees, prompted Mayor Rolando Uy to issue a directive on Sunday, halting classes in public elementary and high schools and pausing operations in city government offices. However, essential services such as health and disaster response will continue to function. Additionally, four private schools have also opted to cancel classes for the day. The event, which will draw participants from the city and surrounding provinces, is being coordinated by Alnorfo Jurada, the supervising district minister of INC. As part of the security protocol, mobile phone and internet services will experience temporary disruptions. The city’s Roads and Traffic Administration has devised a rerouting strategy to handle traffic flow during the rally, and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has mobilized officers to maintain public safety.
