Philippine Statistics Authority Ramps Up National ID Enrollment in Negros Occidental

·

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Negros Occidental is intensifying its efforts to enroll more residents into the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). The initiative includes resuming registration at the provincial office and various outlets and malls in Bacolod City, a highly urbanized area, throughout the week. Additionally, the PSA is launching a mobile registration campaign across different local government units and maintaining a regular schedule at local civil registrar offices and registration centers.

John Campomanes, the chief statistical specialist at PSA-Negros Occidental, emphasized the importance of the national ID, stating that it serves as a crucial proof of identity that simplifies both public and private transactions. As of September 2024, data indicates that 2,171,310 residents from Negros Occidental and 596,344 from Bacolod City have already joined the PhilSys, with 2,114,470 national ID cards successfully delivered across the region.

In Bacolod City, registration facilities are available at major shopping centers such as Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Robinsons Place Bacolod, SM City Bacolod, and Gaisano Grand Central, operating from Monday to Saturday. Beyond Bacolod, registration services are accessible at local civil registrar offices in several municipalities including Don Salvador Benedicto, Toboso, Manapla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Binalbagan, Hinoba-an, and Ilog, as well as in the cities of Sagay, Talisay, Kabankalan, and Sipalay. Other locations include Gaisano Grand in Silay City, City Mall in Victorias City and Cadiz City, and the Fifth Congressional District Office in Isabela town.

To enroll in the PhilSys Registry, individuals need to present one valid form of identification. Acceptable documents include primary or secondary government-issued IDs, certificates of live birth, school or company IDs, and barangay certificates.
