Davao de Oro Achieves 89% Registration in National ID Program

·

In Davao City, the Philippine Statistics Authority in the Davao Region (PSA-11) announced that 89.1% of Davao de Oro’s population, totaling 683,946 individuals, have successfully enrolled in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). This high registration rate reflects the province’s dedication to ensuring widespread participation in the national ID initiative. PSA-11 highlighted this as a significant milestone in their efforts towards inclusive registration.

The registration rates across the province’s 11 municipalities vary, with Laak, Mabini, Montevista, and Nabunturan surpassing the provincial average. In contrast, Monkayo, Compostela, and Pantukan have the largest numbers of residents yet to register, pointing to these areas as priorities for further outreach and registration drives.

To accelerate the advantages of the PhilSys, PSA-11 started distributing paper-based national IDs in October 2022. To date, 137,175 such IDs have been distributed in Davao de Oro, achieving 79.8% of the intended goal of 172,000. These paper IDs include the PhilSys Card Number, personal details, and a QR code for verification, offering the same utility and legitimacy as the plastic cards.

Nabunturan leads in the issuance of paper IDs with 21,830, followed by Compostela with 15,687, and Monkayo with 15,532. On the other end, Mawab, Montevista, and Mabini have the lowest numbers of issued IDs, with figures at 7,173, 8,399, and 8,723 respectively.

PSA-11 noted that the shift to issuing paper IDs in real-time has greatly improved the efficiency of service delivery, enabling registrants to obtain their IDs right after registering.
