In a significant development for community welfare, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has unveiled a new two-story multipurpose building in Barangay 4, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. The facility, costing PHP19.9 million, was officially handed over on January 30, 2025, and is set to directly benefit 232 households, impacting approximately 1,050 residents of the area.

The building, constructed under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program, is designed to be a central hub for social, cultural, and economic activities. This initiative aims to enhance community development and empower local residents.

During the turnover ceremony, DSWD-13 Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, alongside Benjamin Salvador, the chairperson of the Barangay Development Council-Technical Working Group, emphasized the building’s role in fostering community spirit and progress. Salvador expressed hopes that the new structure would motivate the community to strive for greater achievements and a brighter future, symbolizing the strength found in unity and shared goals.

The KALAHI-CIDSS program, known for its community-driven development approach, is a key component of the government’s strategy to alleviate poverty, improve service delivery, and promote good governance across the nation.
