Cagayan de Oro Customs Office Exceeds January 2025 Revenue Goal by P77 Million

·

The Bureau of Customs at the Port of Cagayan de Oro announced a significant overachievement in its revenue collection for January 2025, surpassing its target by PHP77.1 million, which equates to a 2.68 percent increase over the set goal. According to a statement released on Tuesday, District 10 Collector Arthur Sevilla Jr. revealed that the port amassed PHP2.9 billion against a target of PHP2.8 billion. This success is credited to the collaborative efforts of the Cagayan de Oro port along with its sub-ports located at the Mindanao Container Terminal and in the cities of Iligan and Ozamiz. Sevilla emphasized that the port’s expanded capacity in Northern Mindanao has played a crucial role in enhancing trade efficiency and increasing revenue. He also noted that new security measures introduced during the expansion are expected to strengthen efforts against smuggling. In the previous year, 2024, the port collected a total of PHP42.7 billion, reinforcing its status as a leading port in the Philippines and a vital contributor to the Bureau of Customs’ revenue. Sevilla linked this accomplishment to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s mandate to improve the revenue collection of government agencies, thereby supporting essential infrastructure projects and programs.
