Vintar District Hospital Now Offers Round-the-Clock Services

·

In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility, Vintar District Hospital in Ilocos Norte will commence 24/7 operations starting February 10, 2025. This development was announced by Vintar Mayor Richard Degala, who expressed gratitude towards the provincial government and healthcare staff for their efforts in making healthcare more accessible to the community.

The hospital, recently re-licensed by the Department of Health as a primary care and birthing facility, has undergone significant upgrades. These include the repair of essential infrastructure and an increase in bed capacity to five. Additionally, the hospital has bolstered its staff with the addition of two doctors, three nurses, and a utility worker, aiming to better serve remote areas such as Surong Valley, Magabobo, and Salsalamagi.

The expansion of healthcare services in Ilocos Norte is part of a broader initiative by the local government to enhance healthcare infrastructure post the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative also includes plans to accredit all rural health facilities as primary healthcare providers in collaboration with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

Residents like Arlene Villanueva from Surong Valley have expressed relief at the availability of a functional health facility that operates around the clock. Villanueva highlighted the challenges of accessing healthcare in remote areas, especially without emergency funds.

Once accredited as a PhilHealth-Konsulta facility, Vintar District Hospital will offer free outpatient services, including consultations, laboratory tests, and medications, to members and their dependents, further easing the financial burden on patients.
